TIME OUT LONDON

Arrrgh, there be treasure in them (Primrose) Hills! Pocket a piece of priceless art this weekend

As of this morning, ten multicoloured zebras are hiding between Euston and Hampstead. The priceless creations by urban artist Dom Pattinson are part of his ‘free art’ campaign, which kicked off in New York City in July when Pattinson and fellow artist Sean Sullivan pasted original pieces on walls and bins around SoHo.

That stunt got Pattinson noticed by megastar (and mega heartthrob) George Clooney, who commissioned Pattinson to create a wedding present for Brangelina. Now Pattinson’s pieces rarely go for less than £6,000. You could probably get a real zebra for that money, but it wouldn’t fit above your mantel, so see if you can bag one of Pattinson’s, which will be hiding out until Sunday night (if they’re not all snapped up by then).

Titled ‘Stand Proud, Stand Out’, these set of zebras represent gay rights, human rights and equality and come as part of a show Pattinson is hosting to raise funds to help fight Ebola. The exhibition opens on December 11 at Primrose Hill’s Utopia Studios, 7 Chalcott Rd, NW1 8LH.

Don’t fancy traipsing the cold, London streets? Here are three fun alternative outings this weekend.

Dom Pattinson (Of Brangelina Fame) Is Staging An Art Treasure Hunt

Want an art collection like Brangelina’s? Well you can start with a Dom Pattinson original. George Clooney commissioned the urban artist to create a piece for Brad and Ange as a wedding present. But you don’t need a bank balance like George’s to have a Dom Pattinson hanging on your wall.

On Friday, Pattinson is leaving ten pieces of his art (which usually start at £6,000) around London for you to find and take home… for FREE. Nope, there’s no catch. This treasure hunt will take place in London between Euston and Hampstead. The piece up for grabs is called ‘Stand Proud, Stand Out’ and is a colourful zebra which is said to be ‘a statement about gay rights, equality and human rights.’ And apparently Liam Gallagher loves it – so you might spot him on your hunt around Hampstead.

This isn’t the first time Pattinson has staged a free art campaign – it was the New York treasure hunt which got George Clooney’s attention and led him to create a piece for Brangelina. This is ahead of his exhibition at the Zebra One Gallery in Primrose Hill to raise funds for Bob Geldof’s charity fighting against Ebola.

On your marks, set…

See the Prints Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Received as a Wedding Gift

What do you get the couple who . . . actually does, seemingly, have everything they could ever want? You can’t buy Brad and Angelina a new set of spoons, or a gift certificate for a nice dinner. Apparently, according to Us Weekly, you get them artwork.

The magazine says that many of the presents bestowed upon Brangelina took the form of paintings, many of which will be put up in their Southern France estate, Chateau Miraval, where “they are building a large art collection.”

One such pal—identified only as a “close friend of Pitt’s” (Clooney? Uh, Matt Damon? Who are Brad’s other friends?!)—sent the couple some original paintings by a British urban artist named Dom Pattinson, whom we so wanted to be Robert’s itinerant uncle, but is in fact unrelated to the Twilight star. And these, right here, are the prints—from Pattinson’s “Hope” collection—that now potentially sit stacked up against a wall in Angelina’s office, waiting for a home on one of their blessed walls. According to an “urban art expert” (this has to be the first time one of those has been cited in Us Weekly), these prints represent “looking ahead to one’s future rather than focusing on the past.” Sure, okay!

Additionally, Us, per their source’s intel, says that the couple also received a “giant elephant statue.” That’s why you make a registry, Brangelina; otherwise, you end up with a giant elephant that is not going to work anywhere in your house.
